Food blogs, amirite?  Those magical web portals that lure you in with their tempting photos and delicious titles, and then trap you amongst their pages for hours on end.  Don’t pretend you don’t love them. If you can honestly say you don’t, you must only be looking at the worst ones, like Oat Bran Daily and Fun With Kale! (Turns out, 365 Days of Kale does exist, if you’re into that sort of thing.)  The problem here is that it is impossible to remain hung up on one bad blog when there are so many good ones begging too be looked at.  Far too many, actually.

The typical wasted hours spent food blog-hopping go a little something like this:

Posted by Lizzy Bogacki | October 19, 2011

Denuology_Reflecteur95

This issue looks at a range of sites, videos and projects. The first is a time lapse video of Mars Rover images. It’s and amazing up close view of the Red Planet. The next article examines an infographic that will be enjoyed by both the foodies and struggling cooks among us. ‘Taste Buds’ will become your go to source for food pairings.

On page two we start with the tumblr for the Occupy Wall Street protests – We are the 99%. This site is updated dozens of times a day and is a great example of using the digital space to bring individual faces to a larger movement. Finally, we lighten the mood with ‘Ballon Hats’ which proves that balloon hats really are universally enjoyed.

REFLECTEUR – Special Issue: Contributor’s Top Sites Issue 93

Posted by Lizzy Bogacki | October 12, 2011

Denuology_Reflecteur93

We are often asked where we find the items we write about in Reflecteur. We are lucky to have a team of contributors that send us items going viral from their favorite sites. Each of our contributors has his or her own interests and favorite sites to visit, so the items they send are as varied as they are. However, despite this range certain ones seem to pop up again and again as top sites.

This one page issue includes some of out favorite sites for digital culture items across a variety of categories. From the ad world to cooking to gaming to geek love, these sites are some of the best to check for what’s being shared right now.
