Impressions of CES 2011: Linda Johnson

Posted by Linda Johnson | January 13, 2011

As this was my first trip to CES, I was overwhelmed by many of the advancements and products displayed: GE’s Nucleus is an innovative tool that gives consumers the power to control their electricity consumption, Samsung’s newest refrigerator includes a screen where families can plan meals and calendars, and Sony’s glasses-free 3D TV is a step in the right direction to making 3D TV a more applicable part of everyday life. As intriguing as all of the displays were, I couldn’t help being under-whelmed by the lack of mobile opportunities to further connect with brands and products during the show.

Impressions of CES 2011: Matt Story

Over the course of this week, a few Denuologists will be posting their impressions from CES. Here is the next take on the show:

As I recovered from the sensory overload that is CES, I was surprised by my conclusion from this year’s exhibition. Unlike past years where I left with glossed over eyes from some amazing innovation that I didn’t understand or know how my life ever existed without, I found myself spending more time with those displays that were simple and actually practical thanks to my familiarity with an pre-existing concept.

REFLECTEUR – Issue 73

Posted by Eric Bee | December 13, 2010

Reflecteur_73

This time of year brings us warm holiday cheer, carols sung by choirs, and the droning moan of the undead as they wander the streets for fresh brains.

Wait, what?

In all seriousness, zombies are the monster-du-jour nowadays. The success of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” and films like “Zombieland” point to them becoming a cornerstone of pop culture and, of course, this includes the digital space. Online, one can learn how to defend themselves against the undead hordes, run simulated survival scenarios similar to the classic game, “Oregon Trail,” or dispel certain myths that have cropped up in recent years about zombie culture.

Don’t think of this as issue 73 of Reflecteur, think of it as your handy survival guide to online zombie infestation. Also, happy holidays.

PLAYED – September 2010

The latest issue of PLAYED is NOT in another castle, nor is it stuck in a warp pipe somewhere. It’s here, live, and ready to deliver another helping of gaming-related insight. Think of it as a power-up mushroom for your marketing mind.

This month, we dive into mobile gaming, taking a closer look at how your phone will be the next battleground for social gaming networks and the marketing innovations that come with them. Also, Super Mario Bros. turns 25 years old this month and we celebrate how Nintendo’s most stalwart brand has reinvented the company time and time again. Speaking of reinvention, read about Sony’s success with PlayStation this year, thanks, hilariously, in part to one Kevin Butler, Sony’s VP of…well, everything. Finally, with gaming becoming a hot-button political issue, we look at how gamers and developers are taking action and informing voters about issues related to their rights.

REFLECTEUR – Issue 68

Posted by Eric Bee | September 27, 2010

Denuology_Reflecteur68

This week’s Reflecteur cultivates examples of the best of the best and the best of the worst. For example, there’s Zero Views, curating those videos which haven’t gone viral into a showcase of great moments in ignored content. On the other side, we have amateur filmmakers recreating Star Wars 15 seconds at a time, using a variety of mediums, methods, and materials. All this, plus hungover owls, Lego Nintendo pop quizzes, and the most frugal of attitudes toward clothing.
