“I’ll get it to go.”

You grab your coffee and head on to your destination, a brief pit-stop to refuel. Don’t forget the sleeve.

You may drink your coffee in one shot, or sip it over the next hour. But after providing its brief service, your cup is going in the garbage, heading off to join almost 60 billion other cups that find their way to landfills each year.

Is this really necessary?

Isn’t there a better way to do this, without the waste, but with the convenience?

There aren’t a ton of things I agree with Craig Newmark about (which may be why I was once hustled on Craigslist), but one of them is that people are inherently good. So, I’ll have to disclaim that point of potential naiveté before I pitch you all the following idea. Especially because it involves people staying “good” as they make decisions about personal profit.

Thoughts from the Forbes CEO Summit

Recently, I had the opportunity to join in a conversation with top marketing executives from companies such as Bank of America, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, Mercedes-Benz USA and Xerox at the 5th annual Forbes CMO Summit in Palm Beach, FL. The topic of discussion was “Preparing for Growth,” and how companies can work to rebuild their brands and boost sales as the economy begins to stabilize and grow.

I broke my presentation into 4 parts: Observations, Predictions, Challenges, and Suggestions. I’ve outlined them below.
