the alternative obama logos

Posted by Benny Torres | December 22, 2008

obama-08-logoSome alternative Obama logos have popped up – along with an interview outlining the history and strategy behind the now famous “O.” It’s interesting to noteĀ  first “millennial” president (or so people say) is also the one who was more throughly and deliberately “branded.” There was some real thought and thinking behind the logo and what it represented – which is more than can be said for most campaign logos. Personally, I love the logo that was eventually picked but seeing the strategy and meaning behind it makes it even cooler.

Internet Memes, I Salute You

Posted by Benny Torres | November 27, 2008

You’ll rarely see me embedding YouTube videos on Denuology – but there are some things you simply can’t let pass you by. America got Rick Roll’d today, please see above if you weren’t blessed enough to see it live. It’s tough to really pick out a single entity to give credit to here. NBC, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Cartoon Network, Rick Astley, and Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends all seem possible suspects. Regardless, this is truly a momentous day for internet culture. All that’s left is for scientists to prove that God exists for the sole purpose of Rick Rolling him (it?). I anticipate it’ll take a couple months. Click the link below for the wholly appropriate way I discovered this this morning.

Netflix & Xbox 360: Made of Win

Posted by Benny Torres | November 24, 2008

netflixxbox360

Microsoft recently released a rather large update for the Xbox 360 – which adds a completely revamped interface along with some new features, including the ability to stream your Netflix instant queue to your TV. Eric Bee called the feature a “gamechanger.” I’ve never quite jumped on the Netflix bandwagon so I scoffed indignantly. This weekend, I tried it out. I’m now a convert. Using the service was one of those “holy s**t” technology moments. It’s like I saw the future in front of me. And it looked like Tina Fey in HD. Netflix on Xbox 360 truly changes the role of the white, heat-prone box underneath my TV.

Obama Quick On The Web Draw

Posted by Benny Torres | November 7, 2008

changegov

Although President-Elect Obama is still a couple months away from moving into his new white home – he has wasted no time in moving to a new interweb home at change.gov. It’s listed as the website for the Office of the President-Elect and houses a variety of president-elect content. It’s essentially the offspring of a presidential campaign site and whitehouse.gov. What I find most interesting about this is the slight social focus of the site.

Twing Twang Goes The Teddy Bear

Posted by Benny Torres | November 7, 2008

teddyboom

As I once heard in a little known historical drama film called “Fight Club” – “I felt like destroying something beautiful.” In Kilimanjaro Magazine’s “Teddy Killers” piece – they’re destroying something… cute? The feature (project? thingamabob?) provides exactly what you’d think it would – rather beautiful footage of teddy bears being blown to bits. I really really love this, and I’m not sure what that says about me. (And kudos to you if you get the reference in the headline)
